Askham is a Furness Peninsula village next to a long sandy beach on the edge of the Duddon Estuary not far from Barrow in an area well known for its wide variety of wildlife. It starts and finishes at Braithwaite Institute near Keswick where the non-refundable registration fee of £120 per team will begin from 6am.

Once inside you will see the dining room first with exposed beams and open stairs up to the bedrooms, and ahead of you is the kitchen which has a tiled floor and a door leading to a rear parking area.

Completing the ground floor are a bathroom, which is just off the kitchen, and the welcoming sitting room boasts an electric fire, a view of the front lawned garden and far-reaching hill views.

Great walking and cycling can be enjoyed in the area, and the coast and train station are within walking distance.

The nearest shop and pub are in the village of Beckermet, which even hosts its own music festival in August.

Dating back to 1734 and located down a country lane, next to a working livestock farm, this cottage is ideal for a family or friends in order to explore the area, with the wonderful Lake District National Park within reach.

It is situated 0.75 miles from Wastwater and is an ideal base for high fell walks including Scafell Pike, Mosedale Horseshoe, Great Gable and Screes Tops.

There is direct access to footpaths and bridle-ways.

You can choose a 5.7 kilometre; 10 kilometre; or 17 kilometre run, or, join the 10 kilometre Nordic Walk.

June 3rd – Askham & Irelith Carnival 2017 A colourful parade of Askham's “Carnival Royals” accompanied by music, dancers and floats sets off at 12.30pm from Parklands Drive to be followed by an afternoon of family entertainment at Duddon Sports & Social Club. June 3rd – Hospice at Home 20 Challenge at Braithwaite Institute Teams of four are invited to enter this tough 20 miles walking challenge over a route which includes 10 summits.
